Living without wheat doesn't mean living without roti.

By Hammad Tariq · 6 November 2026 · 2 min read

Naturally gluten-free flours

  • Buckwheat (kuttu): nutty, great for pancakes and rotis
  • Besan (gram flour): for cheela and pakoras
  • Rice flour: for crisp coatings
  • Makki (corn) flour: for makki ki roti

Simple swaps

  • Roti: mix buckwheat and makki flour with warm water
  • Snacks: roasted makhana instead of biscuits
  • Rice instead of bread with meals

Watch for cross-contamination

If you have coeliac disease, make sure flours aren't milled with wheat, and check labels on spice mixes.
