Bright isn't always better. Two quick tests for your haldi.

By Hammad Tariq · 6 November 2026 · 2 min read

Why haldi gets adulterated

Turmeric powder is sometimes mixed with rice flour, chalk or bright artificial colours.

Two tests

  1. 1Water test: stir a pinch into a glass of water. Pure haldi settles slowly and leaves the water lightly yellow; dyed haldi turns it bright yellow straight away.
  2. 2Palm test: rub a pinch on your palm. Pure haldi leaves a yellow stain that fades; chalky powder feels gritty.

Our haldi

Ground from whole dried roots, with no colour or fillers added.
