Why fakes are common
Real shilajit is rare and slow to collect and purify, so sellers stretch it with fillers, tar, or other resins.
Five tests
- 1Cold-warm test: real resin is hard and brittle when cold, and soft and stretchy in warm hands.
- 2Water test: dissolve a piece in warm water. Real shilajit dissolves fully, turning the water golden-brown, with no grit left.
- 3Flame test: real shilajit bubbles but doesn't burn into ash or flame.
- 4Smell: earthy and smoky, never chemical or sweet.
- 5Alcohol test: real shilajit doesn't dissolve in alcohol.
Buy from someone who can trace it
